2nd Annual Never Quit Beach Fest
The 2nd Annual Never Quit Beach Fest will take place in Jacksonville Beach on Saturday, June 5, 2010. All events will start at the Jacksonville Beach Pier. This festival’s mission is to raise awareness that heart disease and strokes/hemorrhages may be avoided by combining exercise, healthy diet practices, and regular blood pressure monitoring.
Captain Gerard Petroni, who suffered multiple brain bleeds before his death in December of 2009, is the inspiration for this festival celebrating healthy, happy lives. Four different events are available for participants:
- 5k Run/Walk
- Trident Challenge - Relay or Solo (combo of a 5k run, 500M ocean swim, and 1.5K surfboard paddle)
- Surf Lessons and Funny Surf Contest
- Fishing Clinic Bonus - If you’re feeling really adventurous, there’s also a Navy Seal Challenge that starts at 11a.m.
The schedule is as follows:
- Register and enjoy a healthy breakfast prior to 7:45 a.m.
- Airshow, Speaker, and Event Kick-Off begins at 7:45 a.m.
- 5k start at 8 a.m.
- 1 Mile Fun Run begins at 9 a.m.
- Surfing Lessons for all ages will be given in five groups with start times of 8:30 a.m.,10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m.,1:00 pm., and 2:30 p.m.
- Fishing Clinic and Derby begin at 10:30 a.m.
- After Party at Salt Life Food Shack begins at noon.
- Awards and movies start at 6 p.m.
