St. Johns County Superintendent Voted Best in the State
Congratulations to Joseph Joyner, St. Johns County School District’s Superintendent, who was chosen as Florida’s Superintendent of the Year for 2009!
Dr. Joyner has been St. Johns County’s Superintendent since 2003. Since he’s been here the district has opened 5 new elementary schools, 1 new middle school and 2 new high schools. Additionally, the St. Johns School District has earned a rank of A for the past 7 years, an honor only 9 other Florida school districts share. The FCAT scores of the St. Johns county students were ranked third in the state. Also, high school graduates rank second in the state when it comes to being ready for college.
As a parent with 2 children in this school district, I’m amazed at the dedication and enthusiasm of the teachers and the high quality of the education my children are receiving. Despite the deep cuts in school funding, our school district continues to be a great asset to this community.
