Insight to Real Estate News in Jacksonville & Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida

The MPS Women’s Tennis Championships—

2009 represents a year of change for women’s tennis in Northeast Florida.  For many of us who have made the annual trek to Amelia Island for top quality women’s tennis, this will be the first year of enjoying the tournament right here at home at the Sawgrass Country Club.  A number of top 10 womens players have already indicated they will be playing, including Petrova, the ‘06 Champion and Cibulkova, the 08 runner-up. The tournament runs from April 6-12, 2009, and is a Sony Ericsson WTA Tour event. Call 800 486 8366 for tickets and come out and enjoy!

The tournament not only has a new venue, the Sawgrass Country Club, it also has a new sponsor, the MPS Group , and a new name, the The MPS Group Championships. MPS Group, although new to tennis, has been part of the Jacksonville community for over 30 years. They employ over 700 people in Northeast Florida and over 20,000 Worldwide.

Tennis begins on Saturday, April 4th with qualifying rounds that continue through Sunday, April 5th. Monday, April 6th is the the opening of main draw play. Each day will feature different sponsors or fun events, culminating in the semifinals on Saturday, April 11th, both singles and doubles, and then the finals on April 12th, which begin at 1:00 PM on the stadium courts. As in past years, the last two days will be televised, with The Tennis Channel covering both the singles and doubles.

Come out and join in the fun and help make this event one that will be repeated year after year here at the Beaches!
