Discover Ponte Vedra - Freedom Boat Club and the Boating Lifestyle

Ponte Vedra and Jacksonville Beach are both known for their beautiful beaches and proximity to the ocean. But, did you know that Ponte Vedra and Jacksonville Beach have amazing boating spots and an active boating community?

In Northeast Florida, there are many ways in which you can incorporate boating into your lifestyle. We took a trip down the Intracoastal Waterway with Freedom Boat Club to highlight some of the best boating spots in these sought-after beach neighborhoods. The Intracoastal Waterway is a fabulous venue for boating, fishing, kayaking, and paddle boarding.

In our area, there are numerous neighborhoods with easy water access for boating enthusiasts. On this trip, we visited two of these waterfront communities - Channelside and Marina San Pablo. Channelside is built right along the waterway and each townhouse has its own boat slip. In this neighborhood, you can walk out your backdoor and right onto your boat! Marina San Pablo is a gated community of condominiums and townhouses with wonderful amenities. Many of these homes come with their own boat slip. Both of these neighborhoods are a perfect solution for those who are looking to incorporate boating into their lifestyle every day.

A popular destination for anchoring and staying for a while is Guana Park. The Guana Reserve, a Florida state park, is an extremely peaceful spot to relax on the boat and observe the “Old Florida” nature.

The Intracoastal Waterway is also home to several waterfront restaurants with boat slips for short-term docking to tie up while enjoying a meal and cocktail. The channel out to the Atlantic Ocean for offshore fishing and boating is conveniently just minutes away from numerous boat docks in Jacksonville Beach and Ponte Vedra Beach.

Tonya O'Quinn, Broker Associate with the Lisa Barton Team, points out that many people don’t realize the number of local waterways that are accessible in our area and residents often forget the many opportunities they have to enjoy a variety of fun lifestyle options on the water. With a club like Freedom Boat Club, you can be on the water and enjoy all Ponte Vedra Beach has to offer without even owning a boat!

Tonya says because of Freedom Boat Club she can “leave work and in 30 minutes be out on the water watching dolphins at sunset.” Membership in Freedom Boat Club takes all of the stress out of boat ownership and even includes the training for learning the skills needed to navigate the waterways.

Luke Bickerstaff, Assistant Director of Marketing with the Freedom Boat Club, explains that “the club is a fantastic affordable option to be able to get on the water.” Joining the club includes a one-time initiation and monthly fees for as long as you would like to be in the club. This gives members unlimited access to the Jax Beach, Julington Creek, and St. Augustine marinas.

Luke calls the club “boating made simple.” Freedom Boat Club wants you to spend as little time as possible getting the boat on the dock ready to go and as much time as you can on the water.
